Professional head chef, Matt Yurko, will work with you to create a balanced menu that will cater for any specialised dietary requirements & create an unforgettable food experience. Chef Matt Yurko’s love for food comes from spending long hours learning from a diverse caliber of chefs.
After working in Brisbane restaurants for several years Matt moved to Hamilton Island to be the sous chef at the five star Beach Club Resort. Guests worldwide were treated to a wide range of delicacies, including preparation of their own fresh caught fish from local charters.
Overseas travel was calling. Matt headed to England where he quickly gained employment at the popular Pan Asian/fusion restaurant “Cicada” in Farringdon, London. This was where Matt cemented his love of Pan Asian/fusion cuisine. One year later he was offered the head chef position at the prestigious Pacific Oriental restaurant, a brand new London establishment. Staff from Thailand, Indonesia, Burma, China and Japan made this restaurant unique and diverse with stunning cuisine and wine.
When Matt wasn’t working he was frequently travelling with his wife through Europe to explore and experience other countries’ true authentic cuisines. Returning to Australia via South East Asia, Matt embarked on his position as head chef at Brisbane’s famous steak and crab house Kingsley’s. During his two years there he won the business award for “best steakhouse in Brisbane”.
The Sunshine Coast is now home and The Canapé Project is his passion. Matt enjoys sharing his love of creating modern, delicious, healthy food and looks forward to creating an unforgettable food experience with you and your guests in the future.
