This Real Wedding is a true country love story. Scott and Claire have created a magical day right back to where it all began.
It began in 2007
If only we knew then, what we know now…..
Scott and his family are from Gloucester NSW
My family and I are from Walcha NSW
We met when I was sweet 16 at Singleton Rodeo in the Hunter Valley. I was a student attending Tocal Agricultural College doing my Certificate 3 in Horse Husbandry.
We became good friends and kept in contact over the years.
In August 2013, Scott was working away in the Northern Territory for a contract Cattle Mustering business.
He had a friend’s Wedding in Capella QLD, so he made the long journey back to QLD to attend Stan and Teale Hamiltons Wedding.
At the wedding, Scott was speaking to Cherylle Hamilton- Stan’s mother, and told her she would be making our Wedding Cake (we weren’t even an item then). So Scotty had some great plans back then.
After the Wedding Scott decided he was so close to NSW (1,300km) he better call in and see his parents after 1 year.
It just so happened that Walcha, my hometown was on the way… So Scotty called in for a place to sleep for the night and didn’t leave for 3 days…
Scott decided to stay put in NSW whilst he was courting. We became an item on the 9/8/2013.
We decided after a short time of being together that we should make the big move to QLD when the offer of a job came available at Junction Creek Cattle Station 200km North of Charters towers QLD where Scott had previously worked for 5 years.
It was a big decision, only being together for around 3 months.
I quit my job in Walcha, put a renter in my house packed myself my 2 horses, 2 cats and my old Blue Dog Buddy up and made the journey 1,700 km north to live the life I always dreamt of.
It was a gamble that paid off for us, we still live in QLD and work on a Cattle Station near Clermont. We love our life.
The reason Scott & I chose Tocal Homestead for our special day as it was where we met all those years back…
Tocal offers an amazing venue, with everything all in the one place – Ceremony, Reception and copious amounts of places for pictures.
We chose to have our ceremony under the enormous old Fig trees on the Homestead lawn.
Our pre-dinner celebrations we also on the lawn, where we had lawn games set up for guests to play, the catering business Sprout Catering that runs out of Tocal Homestead set up an amazing grazing table with a decadent selection of cheeses, meats, olives, dips and biscuits and a bar for our guests to enjoy whilst we were getting pictures around the glorious old buildings on site at Tocal.
We also opted to do the Homestead tour for those guests who were interested in Tocal’s amazing history.
The reception was held in the Heritage Hay Shed function centre, just a short walk from the Homestead Lawn.
Everything was absolutely amazing the food and service was top notch.
I would highly recommend Tocal Homestead to anyone looking for somewhere out of the way all in the one place for their special day. It truly is a stunning place.
Our flowers were silk as I wasn’t sure how hot it was going to be on the wedding day and did not want them to risk wilting. They were designed by Love Lane Designs in Townsville.
Our Photographer Mark Morawitz is very passionate about his work. We enjoyed every minute with him and made our day so easy.
The Charm of my Mother and Grandfather who couldn’t be with us on the day was made by Rachel at Perfect Charmers on
the Gold Coast.
We had an amazing day thanks to all of our beautiful friends and family who helped us celebrate.
