Dan and Edana have known each other since they were kids. “We actually used to catch the school bus together, as our parents live out of town (about 2km away from each other), so we grew up together,” says Edana. “But we didn’t get together until Dan came back from his gap year overseas.”
The proposal happened a while later. “I waited seven years for him to propose!” says Edana. “He proposed in the snow one winter night last July, on Mount Canobolas. For Dan, it was really romantic!”
“The theme for our wedding was vintage fair,” says Edana. “There were lots of soft decorations in romantic light colours, which were the backdrop for teal, gold and vintage accessories.”
The wedding was held in Millthorpe, NSW, in January. “The ceremony was at Millthorpe Public School. We chose this venue because my grandfather went there and it has stunning blue stone buildings, plus it’s only a short walk down a cobblestone street to the reception.”
“I actually did all the styling myself. I also set up the reception, and I hired Bespoke Country Weddings to help set up and pack down the ceremony. I hired chairs and the signing table from Chandelier Designs.”
“For the flowers, I went with a white and cream bouquet. The flowers were cream roses, Rosemary sprigs (for remembrance of my gran, who was named Rosemary!), white lithianthus, white (with a touch of peach) dahlias, white freesias and greenery. It was wrapped in gold ribbon and I had my grandmother’s necklace pinned to it as well.”
The bride wore a gorgeous Lisa Gowing wedding gown with a tulle skirt. Edana’s bridemaids wore mismatched nude-coloured dresses, while the groom and groomsmen looked sharp in bluey charcoal grey suits with gold ties.
“The day was stunning, with not a cloud in sight,” says Edana. “A lovely summer breeze kicked in at 4.30pm when the ceremony started, which made the day even better.”
