If you and your fiancé have been debating over how many friends to include in your bridal party (Is three enough? Is four too many?), relax – at least you’re not having 130! Yep, that actually happened: UK couple Amy Ewing and her TV presenter groom Alex Simmons recently managed to pull off the biggest bridal party EVER, with 130 bridesmaids and 100 groomsmen in tow when they said ‘I do’.

The couple, who got married in North Yorkshire, were worried about the costs of staging a wedding, so they decided to enter a comp run by bridal shop owner Abbi Lewis that would cover the costs of their $217,000 wedding (including 130 identical bridesmaid dresses, worth $70,000!)- as long as they managed to break the current Guinness World Record for number of bridesmaids and ushers.
And break it they did – in fact, Amy and Alex’s wedding was a double world-record-breaker, trumping the incumbent ‘Most ushers to one groom’ record, which had previously been 47, and the ‘Most bridesmaids to one bride’ record, which had been 126.
Just 130 of your besties, right? Well, apparently they kinda were – as to qualify, Amy and Alex had to actually know all of their bridal party personally.
The newlyweds met last year, and weren’t even engaged when they entered the competition – however they say the opportunity was too good to pass up.
Would you have 130 bridesmaids to score your wedding for free, Knotties?
