Just wanted to give everyone a review of our vendors- I know how hard it can be starting out, hopefully this helps if you are planning a wedding in Maui!
We had our ceremony and reception on May 8, 2013 at Five Palms Restaurant in Maui and our wedding was FABULOUS! The reason it was so great was primarily my wedding coordinator- Lori Lawrence of Tropical Maui Weddings (http://www.tropicalmauiweddings.com/index.aspx). Lori made sure all my many (many, many) requests were fulfilled and she made my day absolutely perfect. She did a wonderful job and I would recommend her a thousand times over. If you can do one thing for yourself, hire a wedding planner. It takes the stress right out of the planning, especially when you arrive in Maui. To know all the details are being taken care of by another person, you can just relax and focus of visiting with family and friends, rather than worry about planning a wedding!
Photographer– We used Richard Marks (http://www.alohaia.com/) and he was AMAZING!! We went with him because his style suited what we were after at our wedding- fun, bright and colourful. We also did trash the dress with Richard and I would highly recommend. I just can’t say enough about how great all the photos turned out, I received soooo many compliments on the photos- he is in ONE word- AWESOME.
Hair and Makeup- Pam Jensen (firstname.lastname@example.org) from the Four Seasons Resort in Wailea- WOW. I had her recommended from a friend that also used Pam’s services for her wedding and she wasn’t kidding- she will turn you into a model! She took the hair- photo example I had and turned it into something that was flattering for my face shape. The makeup she applied made my skin flawless (thank you airbrushing) and the makeup looked natural, even though it transformed me into total glamour! I have to say she is the reason I felt so beautiful on my wedding day- she is seriously a magician!!
Flowers- Lois Hiranaga (http://loismauigirl.com/) – I would also highly recommend Lois, the bouquets for myself and my bridesmaids were tropical and stunning. She was also great to work with, very prompt in her responses to my email requests (and changing my mind a few times!)
DJ- DJ Del (http://www.mauiweddingdj.com – He was not only our DJ but also was MC at our wedding. Half way through the reception we decided to change things up with some dance music, and he knew just what to play that was our style (not too cheesy). I would Highly recommend him!!
Venue- Five Palms Restaurant in Maui– I worked with Kathryn of Five Palms and she was very prompt in returning my emails and getting back to me. This is a fabulous venue to get married at- prices are decent and ceremony views are stunning. Oh and of course the food- delicious and gourmet! Again, I would highly recommend Five Palms, no complaints!!
Video- We used Surefire Productions (http://www.surefireproductions.com) and haven’t received the video back yet, but I’m sure it will be wonderful, just like the rest of our wedding.
Ceremony Music– Jamie Lawrence (Lori’s husband) played live music at our wedding. He has a beautiful voice and the Hawaiian style just suited our laid back style perfectly.
Pastor Tino- I would also highly recommend Pastor Tino. We integrated some traditional Russian culture into our Hawaiian wedding ceremony and Paster Tino seamlessly added this into our ceremony.
Accommodation– We stayed at Ekahi Village in Wailea. Everyone’s unit was different but I only heard positive comments about the condos. Great location and you get what you pay for. Everyone I spoke to said they would definitely stay there again, as would I!
I hope I’m not missing anyone, but I truly would recommend each and every one of my vendors. They all worked together to make our day fabulous. I just wish I would have taken the time to sit back, relax and enjoy! Everyone says this, but it all goes by so fast. Don’t forget to stop what you’re doing, in the absolute craziness of it all, take a deep breath and enjoy.
