I am new to this forum, and thought I would reach out to see if anyone can help me.
We are hoping to have an enchanted forest themed wedding – ceremony and reception. Think a ceremony outdoors under tall ‘european style’ trees in a forest clearing, a long reception table under the canopy of the trees with hanging naked light bulbs.
Check out the pinterest board to get an idea:
We are based in Sydney, however want it to be a travel wedding. So far we were thinking Tasmania, Victoria, New Zealand, but open to any venues in Europe as well. I want to avoid an overly bush-area or rainforest area, so more thinking pine forests or something similar.
I find it very difficult to find suitable venues online, as ideally we would find a property we can hire out for the duration of our stay and that can cater for a reception and ceremony in woodlands or a forest on their grounds.
I know this is a long shot, and I am prepared to compromise on the theme should we not find anything. But I thought I put it out there and see if anyone knows of places that would work for this.
Thanks for your help in advance!October 18, 2013 at 5:07 pm #422951

In Tas, maybe 1.5-2hrs drive from the nearest airport. The photos and website don’t do it justice – it is beautiful. We went, as they have an offer about staying the night and getting a tour, so we just went for the cheap weekend away. I expected to hate it as I’m not really a nature girl, but I was actually really tempted.
They have a beautiful chapel for the ceremony, or an outside area, then a really nice room for pre-dinner drinks, then a hall for the reception. The room for pre-dinner drinks is much nicer then the hall, so if you have a small group you would use that. Didn’t ask about outside receptions as that’s not my thing, but I’m sure they would do it. You can walk to a waterfall there. It really is beautiful.I think along the walk to the waterfall is the area you want – it would be really cool to have tables set up there! I’m not sure how you would go walking there in a wedding dress though.
It has heaps of accommodation – the lodge is really fancy with beautiful rooms, beauty salon and spa. Then there are cottages which are self contained. There are also smaller rooms.
From memory, it was $220 pp, inclusive of venue, ceremony, predinner drinks, dinner and drinks, breakfast the next day and accommodation.
It is in the mountains in Tassie though, so you do need a back up plan of somewhere inside.I would suggest a weekend to check it out if you are keen!
You could also check out http://www.cradlemountainlodge.com.au/weddings/ which I would imagine would be just as nice (or nicer), but I can’t comment as I haven’t been there in years.
