Must Shoes Be White?

Though brides traditionally wear shoes to match their gowns (which are almost always some shade of white), you don’t absolutely have to. In fact, many brides — having gone conventional with the white dress — choose to have a little more fun with their footwear. You could have your shoes be your “something blue,” or pick a metallic pair that matches with your jewellery or the embellishment on your gown. Or you can go really crazy with footwear that matches your interests — we’ve seen brides walk down the aisle in everything from biker boots to custom made cowboy boots (with the bride and groom’s initials on them, naturally). Get out there and find a shoe — any shoe — that you love. No matter what it’s colour, you’re sure to put your best foot forward.

  1. I am wearing black shoes for my wedding. I don’t want to have a pair of shoes I will only wear once. I want to be able to wear them again and feel special in my “wedding shoes”

  2. I have very VERY large feet, and often have to have shoes custom made which is expensive. There is no way I’m paying $3-500 for a pair of shoes I’ll wear once! I’ll probably have a kickass pair of red satin shoes made to match our wedding colours. I love red shoes, so I’d definately wear them again.

  3. I actually don’t want white shoes at all. I’m probably gonna go with some cute navy blue satin shoes (navy is our theme color) or if that’s impossible to find with silver shoes (that should be possible to find i guess lol).

  4. For my wedding next June I will be wearing a Chinese cheong-sam in red and gold brocade with Chinese motives, and will be wearing matching red shoes, and in my hair I will be having a diamonte and gold comb.

  5. i bought shiney red shoes to go with the highlights on my dress and the main wedding colour, i didnt want plain white shoes

  6. My shoes were the most important part of my outfit as EVERYONE knows I’m a shoe girl and woud disappoint if I had plain white shoes. Naturaly I had gold strappy Jimmy Choos imported especially!

  7. I’m thinking about having my shoes in the same shade of green as the bridesmaids dress!! It’s nice to see others aren’t going for matching the wedding dress either as I have been unsure about it!! Cheers!

  8. I’m planning to wear either yellow or orange shoes to go with my bridesmaid dresses. I love the idea of just having a flash of colour occasionally peeking out in the form of my shoes. I’m very much into bright things and feel that this is something that will make me outfit even more me than the dress I have chosen.
